After getting started last year, we’re making some more green renovations to our rustic place in Loch Sheldrake, NY. To help us do it, we’re offering only one large cottage/bungalow unit to rent this summer for the 2010 Season, Friday July 2  – Monday September 6, asking $3000. Additional days/weeks are possible.

If you’re interested, please call Karla at:  917-626-6849 or email: karlafisk (at) gmail.com.

Loch Sheldrake (Sullivan County)  is under two hours from NYC, located in the heart of the former Borscht Belt. Remember “Dirty Dancing”? The character played by Jennifer Grey first danced with Patrick Swayze at the Sheldrake Hotel. (fictional) A  comfortable ShortLine bus regularly runs between NYC and Monticello, 20 minutes from Loch Sheldrake.

Private 2-bedroom unit (sleeps 4-6) with spacious 9-foot ceilings in a vintage 1920’s side-by-side duplex with large fenced yard.

One block to lake. Key to private lake access.  (down stairs from the road to a little boardwalk and sandy hill next to the lake.) It’s great for swimming for adults and kids both with a dock enclosure and a float. NO motorboats are allowed on the lake, so it’s quiet. Great for kayaking, canoeing, fishing. You can use our little dingy and life jackets.

Fully furnished and equipped. Full eat-in kitchen with microwave. Full bathroom with deep tub and shower. Ceiling fans bring the cool pine mountain air inside.

Telephone, Color TV, DVD, digital cable, cable modem & WiFi network.

The whole place is for you to use. Only you will be staying there: we are renting out only the renovated unit (east side), so you’ll have the place all to yourselves for  the summer. If you have children, they can safely run around the large, shaded and fenced yard.

It’s rustic. Most of the interior of the east side is redone, but the bathroom is still gloriously in the 50s, with multi-blue mini-tile on the floor, and light blue tile and white painted walls. We’ve maintained it and keep it in working order (using what you have is green), but it’s not new.

The exterior needs work, too. Before the end of June the exterior windows & frames will be painted white and the doors a deep red. Also the porch ceiling will be painted white to make it nice and bright.

So it’s a long way from perfect, but it’s clean and comfortable and you can relax.

Dogs are welcome!

Horseback riding, great bicycling, rafting, and kayaking,  farmers’ markets, and concerts at Bethel Woods. Classical music festivals and theater, including at the famous Stage Door Manor Theater Camp in Loch Sheldrake, just 5 minutes away.

It’s a relaxed, feet-up kind of place. A little shabby, though definitely on the road to significant improvement!

You can have coffee in the morning on the broad porch overlooking the yard. There’s a charcoal grill for your private use, an outside table with umbrella and chairs, and a burn bowl for roasting marshmallows over a fire at night.

Lots of space to play in the yard with recreational equipment to use.

Not out in the middle of nowhere, but it’s quiet at night and you can see the stars. You’ve got a large supermarket and new laundromat less than 10 minutes away, as well as a Rite Aid, a good hardware store with lots of housewares, Blockbuster Video, pizza, car wash, etc.

Walk to houses of worship (shul, church) and shop in the hamlet of Loch Sheldrake, Sullivan County, NY.

$3000 for the season, Friday July 2 – Monday September 6, 2010. Additional days/weeks possible.

TERMS: No smoking inside.  Deposit: $1500 via PayPal or combination of cash and personal check to not advertise or show place to anyone else.  $750 damage deposit and balance of $1500 by Friday July 2, 2010.
